Traveling green: Slowcanda in the Marche

Traveling green: Slowcanda in the Marche

It exists in the Walk, a village of only 7 inhabitants, lost among green hills and indissolubly linked to the ridge of Monte Nerone. Far from the chaotic life that reigns in cities and from any possible source of pollution, Baciardi it is the tiny village in the Marche which is difficult to trace even in maps. It is precisely this exclusivity that makes it unique, a true outpost of green tourism. It is its ancient stone houses, the narrow streets that climb up the hills and the few, timid elements that characterize it as a historic village that have aroused in Betty and Lorenzo the desire to start a new life, in the name of simplicity and ecology.

Thus the project was born Slowcanda, from the fusion of the two key concepts that characterize it: the authentic hospitality of an inn like refuge for pilgrims and the rediscovery of time, in the rhythms of life. The result is one stone house from the end of the 800th century renovated following the criteria of green building and almost completely self-sufficient in terms of energy.

Le rooms: one double and one triple furnished with wood and stone, maintaining the original style of the past. The furnishings have a touch of originality that distinguishes them from an anonymous copy of the antique, giving a strong and particular character to each room. As in any good inn, the restaurant, with a cuisine that Betty and Lorenzo define as “improvised”, using only seasonal ingredients, produced directly on their farm or locally sourced. The menu is therefore always a surprise, but there is no doubt about the quality of each course.

La pasta is home made, as well as the bread, produced with 70-year-old mother yeast, used to create the delicious dishes of the Marche tradition, to be enjoyed next to the ancient fireplace in the room of the inn.

For nature lovers or purists of ecological holidays, there is the possibility of camping inside the pitches on the Slowcanda estate. Finally, there is the farm of the structure, whose name derives from legend of the ghost of a young woman disappeared in the past, which is thought to still roam today in the Baciardi valleys. Slowcanda is an alternative way to conceive holidays, following the criteria of sustainability and rediscovering the pleasure of a slow, genuine life. A way to experience authentic hospitality, where you feel part of a big family rather than in an accommodation facility.
