VeniceBox the new city pass of Venice, pros and cons

VeniceBox the new city pass of Venice, pros and cons

Venicebox is one citycard, of those that now exist in every city or tourist area and which allow you to take advantage of discounts, promotions, admissions etc., until recently there was only Venice Card in Venice which, however, in the last year has undergone and is undergoing continuous changes not too clear. From now on, those planning a trip to the city can also consider this option, which is why I wanted to talk to you about it, also underlining it pros and cons.

This pass can include different elements depending on your needs: the entrances to the museums of Piazza San Marco (Palazzo Ducale, Museo Correr and Biblioteca Marciana), unlimited use of public transport in a given period of time, the means to reach the airports of Venice and Treviso, discounts in commercial activities in the city and € 50 coupons to be used in shops and restaurants. The packages are made up of various combinations of these elements but never include them all: for example, one is missing that simultaneously includes museums, public transport and transport to the airport; in all instead there is one map, coupons and discounts. Speaking precisely of the latter, some proposals are interesting, for example, some restaurants and shops of various kinds are included among the agreements on which you can have discounts, activities such as photographic tours or in the “unusual Venice”.

The duration of the packages ranges from 24 hours to a week, while some even last a year. Prices are obviously related to the options included and to the period of possible use starting from a minimum of € 5 up to a maximum of € 81. The card can be purchased directly online or on site, in some hotels in the city; in the first case there will be two possibilities for collection, on the spot at your hotel if you have an agreement, in one of the two airports or at the railway station. The possible alternative is to have it delivered directly at home with a supplement of 12 € for shipping costs.
The validity of the cards is then 12 months from purchase with some limits if you choose the option of collection on site.

Now I want a little "flea" to this new proposal to understand if it is actually suitable for your needs or for those who want to spend a few days in the city, so here are mine pros and cons.

PRO definitely a chance to take advantage of discounts thanks to conventions and to have some available, however useful options to deal with the sometimes challenging prices of Venice.
PRO also the possibility of home delivery, in some cases it is really convenient and that could make it possible to take advantage of these packages also as a gift idea.
PRO the possibility of “Customize” the card according to needs, both for the duration and for the services included.

CONS for the limitation of the proposals regarding discounts (for example, there are not yet agreements with hotels, cultural attractions or services such as parking lots), even if they expect to be increased over time.
AGAINST why culturally only two museums are offered effective, excluding the thousand possibilities that exist in Venice.
CONS In some cases the prices are not really convenient (€ 81 for transport, museums and shopping cards, buying the various “pieces” individually would pay € 35 for transport, € 16 for museums and € 5 for shopping); when only transport, transport from the airport and discounts are included, the card seems to have a really affordable price.
