Chestnuts and red wine festival in Frascati

Saturday 3 November in Canterano, in the province of Rome, there is the "Festival of chestnuts and red wine", a very rich menu offered for only 10€ which includes sausages, pasta, cornmeal pizza, broccoli, sweets and, of course, the chestnuts.

In the center of the village during the Chestnut Festival from 16,30 pm the fire is lit for roasted chestnuts. But the menu also reserves other surprises: we start with the pasta and beans, we continue with the tasting of sausages and then again with the corn flour pizza, raniturcu in dialect, and with broccoli. But, you know, in the end there is the sweetest moment with the fried chestnut calzone and a typical local dessert. Not to accompany everything with good red wine would be a sacrilege and Canterano is not lacking.

The party is not only an opportunity to appreciate the typical goodness, but also to listen to the popular music of Marco Cignitti. The sounds of ancient instruments such as bagpipe, shawm, accordion and tambourine accompany the evening. To conclude the party there is the puppet dance with wild dances of mannequins and improvised dancers.
