Alberobello light Festival, the City of Light

Alberobello light festival is the year of light, proclaimed by Unesco for next 2015. So Alberobello becomes the city of light and there are many dedicated events.

2015 was proclaimed by the UN the year of light because it seems that in the coming year there will be a series of anniversaries linked in some way to scientific discoveries closely linked to light. There are many European cities that are joining these initiatives: recently I happened to see beautiful photos of the same event in Amsterdam. But now it's up to us, it's up to Puglia.

Alberobello, which has long been proclaimed a World Heritage Site and essentially a real open-air museum with its typical trulli, will host from 6 December 2014 to 6 January 2015 il Festival of lights. In the Rione Monti, some installations will project luminous patterns on the various cones that will make the Christmas atmosphere truly magical. All the artisan shops, restaurants or simple apartments, with their artfully lit cones, will experience the magic of thousands of moving lights that will dress up the neighborhood.

The event, organized by a local association of young entrepreneurs, also sponsored by EXPO 2015, was also joined by UNESCO who wanted in this way to spread more and more awareness of the importance of light in contemporary civilization, both from stimulus for it to arrive even where it is still missing today.

Furthermore, as regards the nativity scene tradition, at Casa Pezzolla, from 12 December 2014 to 6 January 2015 a great exhibition of artistic nativity scenes. While in the Aia Piccola, from 26 to 29 December 2014 the forty-fourth edition of the living crib with many extras and a very suggestive setting also for the concomitant presence of light installations.

In short, an Advent and a fairytale Christmas among the trulli really promises ... may the light be with you!
