Terme di Casciana, practical information and the legend of a blackbird

Le Casciana thermal baths are found precisely in Casciana Terme in the heart of the Pisan Hills, about thirty km from Pontedera, easily accessible by car or by train.

Before starting with the description of the services or the costs of the Terme, I would like to introduce you to the history of the Terme di Casciana, or rather the legend that was born around this.

In fact, the legend tells of the times when the Countess Matilda of Canossa owned a blackbird aching that every day he left the house, returning every evening more beautiful and lively. One day the Countess decided to follow the blackbird and understood that every day it was going to dive into a pool of hot water and that this was the reason for its rejuvenation. From that day Matilde di Canossa decided to build some spa in that area, which are precisely the Terme di Casciana.

The water of these spas is called Mathelda water, a water that flows from the source at a temperature of 35.7 degrees. Used for motor rehabilitation, vascular treatments, but also inhalation treatments, it is not excluded that those who come here cannot simply take a dip and to relax between the thermal baths and the beauty center.

The outdoor thermal pools offer a big park where to relax, with deck chairs and loungers, a bar to eat something between a bath and another. The pools consist of 550 square meters of water for 1.30 meters high, even children can relax and, why not, play here.

THEentrance to the therapeutic pool external costs 13€ on weekdays and € 15 on holidays, while the reduced are € 8. For all information on the various types of treatments it is good to see directly the Casciana Terme site.
