During the time I spent in the Walk last July I slept for one night at Villa San Martino in Saltara, an enchanting place.
This country house is completely immersed in the green hills of the Marche, 15 km from the sea and is housed in a large XNUMXth century villa. The seven rooms available to guests occupy only a part of this large building, which for the rest houses the Museo del Balì, a center dedicated to science and a small planetarium.
The elegant external central staircase leads to the first floor: this is where the rooms are located, all different from each other. Two are doubles, two are family rooms (with mezzanine and two bathrooms), two suites, more spacious and elegant, and one suite "for the newlyweds" with a fabulous four-poster bed. The stone floor and the simple but refined period furnishings make the atmosphere warm and hospitable: here you feel right at home! With the overnight stay a rich breakfast is also included, served in a beautiful room overlooking the large entrance garden and the long tree-lined avenue.
I would say that as a solution it is perfect for those looking for a bit of tranquility away from the chaos, both for couples on the run and for families, children (but not only, I assure you: D) would certainly have fun at the Museum.
In what was once the annex, now there is theOsteria Al Balì, where traditional Marche dishes are served.
The prices of the stay are quite affordable: a night in a double room with breakfast costs € 90, in a family room (4 people) € 150, in a suite instead of € 120 (for 2 people). There is also the possibility of having "half board" with a surcharge between € 55 and € 75 per room.
La position of this structure allows you to easily visit the province of Pesaro Urbino: the sea of Fano is only a few tens of kilometers away and it takes 30 minutes by car to reach Urbino. Always at hand even lesser known places to be discovered such as Mondavio, Fossombrone, Acqualagna (that of the truffle !!), the Natural Reserve of the Gola del Furlo and a little further away also the Monastery of Fonte Avellana.
