In Turin a Christmas with all the trimmings, all events

Turin at Christmas is a city full of initiatives and activities, from the Santa Claus gathering to gospel choirs and activities for children in Piazza Castello.

Even this year Torino is wearing Luci d'Artista, the traditional bright setting that winds through the streets and squares of the center and will accompany us with a rich program of events until 11 January 2015.

Turin for children

The exhibition entitled "A Christmas with Bows in Turin" will feature a sparkling 18-meter Christmas tree hosted in Piazza Castello. It seems only right to start with appointments for children. From 8 to 24 December in the house that will be open under the tree, each child will be able to donate their own toy to the volunteers of Caritas, run to take a picture with a real Santa Claus and laugh out loud with the Jesters of God and their sleight of hand.

With mum and dad they can attend the magic shows that will be held in Piazza Castello or remain open-mouthed watching the artists of the Circolo della Magia with their shows dedicated to illusionism. The on December 6st the nativity scene will be inaugurated at the Medieval Village complete with flag-wavers and mulled wine to warm up. For the space dedicated to sport from the 12 14 December the gymnasts of the FLIC school will perform acrobatic performances on the ground and swinging aerial; for DIY lovers, at the cost of only one euro, you can access the Medieval Garden of Palazzo Madama to create Christmas-themed decorations with real gardeners!

Turin in music

Meanwhile, in the pursuit of the sacred, concerts will be held in the most beautiful churches of the city, ranging from compositions of the '500 and' 600 up to gospel. For those who prefer to dare braving the cold but above all the tradition, along the streets of the center nice complexes will keep us company: on December 13th in Piazza della Repubblica there will be Girlesque, a all women street band which moves from burlesque to latin-funk, on January 3rd Piazza Vittorio will celebrate the music of the Roma and Balkan tradition with the popular and danceable Nema Problema Orkestar!

Turin, however, wants to involve everyone, absolutely everyone, tourists and citizens, following the Open Singing formula… let's become protagonists! The city will turn into an exciting merging of rumors with We wish you a Gospel, December 26 in Piazza Castello, because as Hamilton said: "When all men join our song and together we will sing in harmony then yes, we will be free".

Gathering of Santas

What if I told you that in Turin a red and white spot will run through the streets of the cities and you could be part of it? I'm talking about the 5th national gathering of Santas! Organized by whom? The Forma Onlus association, the Foundation of the Regina Margherita Children's Hospital of Turin which allocates funds to initiatives and projects dedicated to the children's hospital.

When? Sunday 14 December from 11.00 to 15.00.
Where is it? in front of the Regina Margherita.
This year the association has set itself the arduous task of improving the burn center, unique both in Piedmont and in the Aosta Valley.
We can all contribute by participating in the gathering and buying the Santa Claus kit with an offer of just 5 euros, so everyone on the street with hat, cape and belt in a riot of red and solidarity! The kit can be collected at specific times and points of sale.

In order not to miss anything, afterwards you could take a trip to Rivoli. Where is it? Obviously al Santa's Village!
In the Piedmontese Rovaniemi you can wander among delightful wooden houses, inside which you can give vent to shopping or participate for free (by reservation) in the various workshops offered, the bravest ones can instead try their hand at the skating rink.

The proposed activities have recreational and educational purposes, from writing the letter to the dear pot-bellied grandfather to the corner of solidarity; with the collection of school material to be allocated to less affluent families in the area or the corner of gifts, thanks to which children are educated to exchange value using only games already used to exchange with surprise others.
I personally recommend everyone to get on the train which will take you to discover the city but above all you will be able to see the real star of the whole village! Who but him? Santa Claus!
