While visiting the city San Antonio in Texas, absolutely not to be missed is exploration of the San Antonio River Walk (also known as Paseo del Río or simply The River Walk).
This city park consists of a series of 15 km of footbridges that run along the San Antonio River. In this stretch the river has a rich vegetation and is lined with bars, shops, restaurants, public works of art and the 5 historic Spanish colonial missions.
The River Walk is an important part of the urban fabric of the city and is one of the main tourist attractions of San Antonio. The visit of The River Walk is very enjoyable, being a pedestrian area, located below the street level where cars and public transport circulate.
Let it be if you just want to do one walk, or have lunch in one of the many beautiful restaurants, this urban waterway can be a pleasant choice. In addition to the Shopping and many museums you can visit, there are many fun activities you can do, like a boat ride on the river.
What to see in San Antonio River Walk

- Marriage Island, an islet in the middle of the San Antonio River

- HemisFair Park, a park for families with children, but also for young people who want different outdoors
- San Antonio Museum of Art, the most interesting museum in the city
- Pearl Brewing Company (also known as Pearl Brewery or simply Pearl), an American brewery founded in 1883
- the five Spanish colonial missions of the city, which have been named World Heritage Sites, including the Alamo
- Tower Life Building, a historic building and landmark in downtown San Antonio. The building has 30 floors and a height of 123 meters

San Antonio River Walk events
Towards the end of April it takes place PARTY, the main event of the city of San Antonio. During this 10-day annual festival, there are parades of beautiful floats on the river, all decorated.
Opening days and times
A walk along this stretch of the river is possible 365 days a year.
The stretch from Mulberry to Eagleland Plaza is open 24 hours a day, while the section that passes through Brackenridge Park, in the north of the city, is open from 05:00 to 23:00.
For the visit it takes approx from 3 to 6 hours. However, we do not recommend walking at night and in less frequented areas.
How to reach us
It is a must when visiting the city and it is very easy to get to the River Walk.
It extends from the mission area of San Antonio, through the center and to the main museums of the city.
The River Walk begins approximately 4 miles north of the city center, where E. Hildbrand Ave crosses the river and ends in the south of the city near Mission Espada.
