It seems that the most famous Florentine in history had not said everything about the earthly paradise: Dante's Divine Comedy gave the literary suggestion that in addition to being a place called hell, there was also a pleasant place to reach after the expiation of the pains.
Too bad that Leonardo da Vinci's flying machine had arrived only a century and a half later, otherwise the literary colleague could have taken a ride on the skies of Kaneohe (Oahu).

The origins of the Haiku Ladder

The Haiku staircase was also renamed the "stairway to heaven": made up of 3922 steps, it was completed in 1942 and was used for wiring the radio cable area.

This wonder of the modern world is the most sought-after destination for extreme explorers who, bypassing the valley closure, secretly leave with a backpack behind them towards the sky of Kaneohe: the steps only 46 centimeters wide require climbing only one at a time!

A real adventure

There is no protection whatsoever for would-be travelers other than a railing on each side that prevents you from plunging down and losing the challenge with yourself.
Often the danger of the itinerary is due precisely to the wet handrails that prevent the normal course of the climb.

Tips for climbing

To get on, as I wrote before, you need to leave before sunrise (or after sunset) so as not to run into the security and control services coming from downtown Oahu.

If you decide to try it, know that it is illegal: before starting you will need to climb over a gate and take the right direction that leads up to the stairs.

The path is very tortuous so it is preferable not to suffer from vertigo (otherwise don't venture!) And bring with you equipment such as: rain jacket, a torch for the darkness of the night (for example if you leave after sunset) and gloves with grip .
