Eating in Valmarecchia at the Trattoria Galleria

Eating in Valmarecchia at the Trattoria Galleria

Almost two years have passed since the last time I stopped at Trattoria Galleria. Sometimes, when you left for a low cost skiHermitage Monte Carpegna, it was customary on returning to stop in the evening for a cappelletto in broth. Mindful of this I decided to go back, but for lunch.

The restaurant is called Galleria because the old railway tunnel that once connected Rimini to Mercatino Marecchia, today's Novafeltria in Valmarecchia. I'll tell you about it.

Having as our next destination the fortress of San Leo, we arrive early. Being Sunday I had booked, and I did well. Fortunately, perhaps it will be telepathy, they give us the table in the small room with the fireplace where, and it is a gem of this country restaurant, there are always two bottles of mulled wine to heat. What is mulled wine? Depending on the area it may differ, but basically it is hot red wine to which cloves, some citrus peel, sugar and other spices are added. After a while the whole place was full, also because it is very well known, and now it is also equipped with an external veranda for the cool summer evenings.

The attack plan foresaw cappelletto in broth and so it was. Although there were two of us, and our two-year-old daughter, the quantity was very abundant enough to fill the plate three times. Then we ask for a portion of tortelloni with ricotta and spinach on a bed of mushrooms, a portion of pork rabbit and one of guinea fowl with del gratin outline. Finally, donut of the house, coffee and a glass (only me) of mulled wine to digest.

Apart from the poetry of the moment, a beautiful day, a good place but well contextualized in the hinterland of the valley, this time I have not really eaten well or spent the right amount. It was a special day, it's true, but next time, since I want to try again, I will tell him that the cost for the cover once did not put it (especially if you eat on paper tablecloths), that the coffee at 1,50 is not the maximum, that the mushrooms were in oil and not fresh, and that the latter were indeed seconds. They saved themselves with the cappelletto in broth, not exactly exceptional, and with the tortellone, thanks to the homemade pasta. However it is a place to try.
