Porto Fluviale: a culinary paradise in Rome

Porto Fluviale: a culinary paradise in Rome

A place entirely dedicated to culinary pleasure was born from a former warehouse of over 900 square meters. River Port is a large restaurant area which is divided into four areas: la trattoria, the pizzeria, the counter and the lounge. But there is no lack of the area dedicated to street food.

These four areas are distinct inside and each of which offers different dishes. The atmosphere of Porto Fluviale that rises in Ostiense district of Rome it is very quiet and conversational, where you can eat really excellent regional dishes at a price that, given the quality, is really low cost. All the kitchens are open and you can easily admire chefs and pizza chefs at work.
The restaurant is open every day from morning until late evening and in addition to being a place to eat and a place where many thematic events are organized to chat and exchange ideas.

La tavern is perhaps the most traditional area of the entire Porto Fluviale, here traditional dishes are cooked and linked to the different Italian regions, one thing that distinguishes it from other restaurants is the possibility of choosing the quantity of your portion, so if you are very hungry, nothing fear. Unlike the Pizzeria it houses two wood-burning ovens to give the customer the possibility to choose pizzas cooked in the Roman or Neapolitan style. The best pizza I have ever eaten perfect in my eyes and even better for my taste buds, the pizza from Porto Fluviale is made with organic flour and a leavening of over 72 hours, this allows the Roman version to be low and crunchy, while in the Neapolitan version to have a very soft edge. In the pizzeria all the products used in the kitchen, from cured meats to desserts, are clearly visible thanks to a glazed island. Obviously, there is no shortage of fried food, meat and vegetables here. It's not over yet, the 13-meter-long counter is an area dedicated to quick lunch and an aperitif that opens at 10 am and closes late at night. Here you can taste the many craft beers or one 100 wines offered a la carte to accompany the "cicchetti" if you are wondering what it is about mini portions of food. From here you can easily access the ring dedicated to street food that you can choose to enjoy on the street or inside, here the doors open to the gastronomy of other cultures and countries.

The last area of Porto Fluviale is the Lounge. This is a place dedicated to events and theme nights, a place to be customized by those who request the space. Inside the living room the air is familiar you are catapulted into a sort of studio-style apartment with the whole restaurant where you can choose to cook yourself thanks to the kitchen counter surrounded by tables and armchairs, but if you prefer to leave this hard task for professional chefs .. no problem these will be at your service.

My experience at Porto Fluviale was truly beautiful and above all very good, is a place that I recommend to anyone who is the "Romans", but also to tourists who after dinner can continue with a visit to Trastevere in the immediate vicinity, and is also easily accessible by public transport.
