Auschwitz-Birkenau, like visiting history

It is a memory that comes from afar, a memory that hurts a lot. Just thinking about that fifty years ago all this happened is really heartbreaking. Observing with your own eyes the place of the barbarism of the Nazis brings you back like a flash to the scenes seen only on TV; all this is Auschwitz.

I concentration camps of Auschwitz e Birkenau have now become a very popular destination for those who decide to stay in Poland. The closest cities for a convenient stopover are Krakow and Katowice. The first is certainly the most convenient in terms of time and money. There are many transport agencies that organize guided tours to the extermination camps, departing from Krakow, at cheap prices and with any organizational need.

For those who prefer the "DIY", From Krakow central station, located a few minutes from the historic center, trains leave every hour for Oswiecim, a small Polish town which in German means Auschwitz. The duration of the journey is an hour and a half; from the square in front of the station, shuttles will accompany tourists with frequent timetables.

THEadmission is free even for those who decide not to use the guide, otherwise the price lists are available on the notice boards. The transfer to the Birkenau camp is guaranteed by buses placed in the parking lot. Only a turnstile divides the most deafening silence.
The first step is under the famous "deception" Arbeit macht frei, everything else cannot be commented on or described. One of the most annoying things is seeing people being photographed in the places where Jews were massacred. It would only help more respect towards an immense people.
