Space Center Houston is the official visitor center of NASA Johnson Space Center in Houston, Texas. The Johnson Space Center is home to Mission Control and American astronaut training, and hosts over 1 million visitors annually.
Opened in 1992 and located in Houston Texas, it is a leading science and learning center of space, with various educational programs for all ages. AND one of the best attractions and things to see in Houston, but also from Texas.
The center houses more than 400 space objects, permanent and traveling exhibits, attractions, live entertainment and theaters dedicated to preserving the history of the American space flight program.
Although the John F. Kennedy Space Center of Cape Canaveral in Florida is more famous and visited, thanks to the proximity to tourist cities such as Orlando o Miami, Space Center Houston is certainly an interesting place to visit and not to be missed on a trip or vacation to Texas. The visit will be a useful and fun experience for the whole family.
Exhibition of objects and spacecraft
The spacecraft gallery is a major attraction in the center and tells the story of American space flight. The exhibit includes three spacecraft, moon rocks and interactive experiences.
Space Center Houston is home to the one-of-a-kind Independence Plaza Exhibition Complex. This historic attraction is the only space shuttle replica in the world mounted on the first aircraft to carry space shuttles and the only place the public can enter both vehicles.
The trams for the downtown tour
The public can only visit Johnson Space Center via the Houston Space Center outdoor tram. The tour includes Building 30 (home to Historical Mission Operations Control Room 2 and Chris Kraft Mission Control Centers), Building 9 (Spacecraft Model Installation Site), and Rocket Park with the restored Saturn V Rocket.
The Mission Mars exhibit opened in January 2017 and was developed with the help of NASA. It focuses on the work NASA is doing to plan a future trip to Mars.
