Italian Style: Art and Society 1900 - 1930

Until the 15 June at the Palace of Colorno you can admire paintings, sculptures, drawings, but above all the advertising posters created during the first thirty years of the past century.

In my opinion, the exhibition is the "sister" of another exhibition held in these days at the San Domenico Museums in Forlì and entitled Novecento. Both celebrate the Italian creativity and aesthetics that were born and developed thanks to the currents of divisionism and futurism. On display works by Balla, Depero, Prampolini, Russolo, Sant'Elia, Sironi.

Il full ticket costs € 8,50 but there are reductions for children, over 65s, Fai members, Touring members and holders of the castelli del ducato card. If you opt for a guided tour of the palace plus a visit to the exhibition, the ticket goes up to € 12,50.

I chose the latter mode and I must say that I was very satisfied. Our guide was one lady of English origin who spoke Italian very well with a nice British accent. He led us to the discovery of the Emilian Versailles, telling us nice anecdotes about its illustrious owners, after which he left us free to admire the works that were on display in the halls of the Palace.

Unlike the Novecento exhibition in Forlì, that of Colorno is more focused on the development of advertising graphics also as a propaganda tool for Italian "grandeur" in the world: in this regard, the posters dedicated to the companies of the nascent Italian aeronautics and to the first flights made are magnificent. from our pilots.

Two exhibitions that I strongly recommend, also to rediscover a period that voluntarily or involuntarily had perhaps been forgotten a little. Working Time: From 2 to 31 March: Tuesday-Sunday 10 am-18pm
    From April 1st to June 15th: Tuesday-Friday 10 am-18pm
Saturday and Sunday 10 am-19pm. Closed on Mondays
