In the countryside around Ravenna, flat, boundless, densely cultivated and sparsely inhabited, so different from my Tuscan countryside I arrived in Gambellara, in a bed & breakfast with the name Abracadabra, a denomination that refers to magic and keeps its promise. A stone house surrounded by green plants and flowering hedges, large shady trees where Angela lives, a traveler who is "loaned" to this tourist activity but with a great desire to leave. In the absolute tranquility of the place, which however is only 15 minutes from the city center of Ravenna and a few kilometers from the always very popular mirabilandia, discoveries are made. The B&B consists of three rooms in the rest of the large house Angela lives with her husband and son, plus two huge, very discreet dogs!
I must say that B & Bs are hardly disappointments, in my experience the people who run them are always extremely friendly, welcoming, willing to tell and tell each other. What strikes me is the big one diversity of individual experiences, which end up being very attached to the person himself. So I go back to Abracadabra: the room was comfortable, well-kept, furnished with originality; there good and plentiful breakfast, with homemade cakes. But the extra element that is found in this house is that everything speaks of an owner who has a passion for traveling to distant countries, who has seen many different worlds from the West, who has brought objects and memories from travels. The context here is all oriental, with pieces coming from Bali, from Indonesia, from India. Buddha, lamps, plants, carpets, it seems to be catapulted elsewhere; But Angela is from Romagna and with her nice accent and a spontaneous and contagious communication, she really welcomes you into her home. Give advice on how to visit Ravenna, on where to park your car, on how to choose where to eat, on which confusion points to avoid; but deep down she would like you to stay there, to appreciate the place where she has decided to go to live.
In fact, the ideal would be to be able to have a few days available for a real holiday and alternate between the cultural visits or fun in Mirabilandia with the peace of this place, enjoying the garden, the scent of vines, the peace of the veranda full of plants or the swimming pool at the back of the house. The sea is also very close, you can choose between Lido di Dante or Lido di Classe, or go further north towards Marina di Ravenna: and in any case a few kilometers separate you from the entertainment meccas of the Romagna Riviera.
The rooms of the B&B are three, as I wrote, Eco, Daphne and Loti, I had the Eco on the ground floor, near the canopy and the pool. Just open the French door and you are in the garden.
Prices vary between 40/50 of the single and the 60/70 euros of the double.
