Zupp review of Genoa

    Zupp review of Genoa

On a recent trip to Genoa I had the pleasure of knowing Zupp, a typical zupperìa where you eat well ea low price.

Zupp is located between the carruggi (alleys) of Genoa, in the historic center near Porta Soprana in via Salta di coccagna. This is a place where soups and soups (from which the restaurant takes its name) based on vegetables and legumes are the main dishes. A soup that carries on the traditions and typical Genoese dishes, simple dishes of humble origins but rich in flavor.

The main reason why you will appreciate this soup is certainly the preparation of the dishes cooked with genuine ingredients, artfully made and carefully presented. Soups and soups are served in earthenware bowls and ceramic bowls and le typical Genoese recipes they are revisited in a modern way to be able to adapt them to today's flavors.

The restaurant is welcoming and characteristic, a combination of rustic and modern with young, professional staff and above all who work with passion.

When I went there we were four people and we ordered a chickpea soup, a spelled and cereal soup, a gratin onion soup and I opted for the old genoa minestrone, the Genoese soup of excellence that I absolutely recommend trying! Everyone raved about each dish, all great. And to conclude our dinner we opted, on the waiter's advice, for the dessert of the day, “ile flottante”, a dessert of French origin but also revisited for an excellent result. The menu of the day is written on a blackboard and every day, depending on the ingredients, is changed.

The prices considering the location of the place, the generous portions, the quality of the ingredients, the preparation and the service are right. A soup with legumes has an average price of about 6 - 7 euros and in this place with 10, maximum 15 euros per person you can spend a pleasant evening with friends, eating well at a low price. Highly recommended place to eat for both lunch and dinner.

Zupp was a wonderful surprise for me because it is a restaurant where you can get to know and relive some of the Genoese traditions including the art of soup. There location of the room it is also ideal for visiting the historic center of Genoa, perhaps still little known in Italy and for visiting one of the city's musts as well as the Genoa Aquarium from which Zupp is just a few minutes' walk away.
