This year is theeleventh edition of a festival born among friends and over time has become the meeting point for many young people who love the music, art and the mountains.



Lo Squinterno Festival It was born in Berceto, a small village in the Parma Apennines and gateway to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennine National Park. A splendid but little known village, which increasingly risks depopulation. The idea of ​​a festival in the mountains was also born with this goal: to bring young people from all over the province and the region right here, to let everyone discover the beauty of the Apennines.

So after 11 years, it is Squinterno Festival keep carrying alternative music band highly selected, from all over Italy (and Europe!), street artists, performers, artisans, illustrators to create moments of encounter and comparison at a very high rate of creativeness. The 2016 edition will be from 8 at the 10 July, admission is free also because it is a widespread festival through the streets of the village, so as to offer the possibility of visit Berceto, a small medieval stone jewel.

Il program it is really rich and even if the village is small, the advice is to write down in advance the events and artists that you do not want to miss. The three-day event will therefore be divided between music, theater, visual arts, performance and reading. Some of the most interesting performances of this edition are:

  • The concert of the Berlin indie fusion band The Trouble Notes - Saturday 9 to 23;
  • The concert of the Swiss indie folk band Josh - Saturday 9 to 21;
  • Lo street artist Gola Hundun who comes from Barcelona to Berceto to paint a wall for the festival;
  • The illustrator Maria Storiales;
  • Among the many theatrical performances, not to be missed is "Two steps are" which has won several national and international theater awards, on Friday 8 July at 21pm.

Accomodation

In Berceto there are several B & Bs, farmhouses and even a small hotel, but for those who want to live the true and authentic experience of the Squinterno Festival there is the free camping, a Woodstock-style free campsite made available specifically for the event. Of course, you have to bring the tent yourself and there are not all the comforts, such as showers, but it is still equipped with toilets and drinking water.

Where to eat

The Squinterno Festival is also the time to try the typical Emilian cuisine and in Berceto, there are many restaurants that make a truly excellent cuisine, like the Locanda Pasquinelli, the restaurant The Bacher or the farmhouse Ca 'del Vento. If, on the other hand, you prefer to immerse yourself 100% in the atmosphere of the festival, the meeting is in Piazzale Barbuti where there is official kitchen of the Squinterno. For the drink instead, there is the famous festival tin mug, which has become the official symbol of the event. Each year it is decorated with different illustrations and is a way to incentivize one too more sustainable lifestyle.
