The Quadrilatero
The main route for a food and wine tour in the beautiful Bologna, can only start from Quadrilateral, an area with an ancient artisan, mercantile and commercial tradition, which still maintains its vocation today. Today it identifies the area adjacent to Piazza Maggiore, enclosed between piazza della Mercanzia, via Rizzoli, via Castiglione, piazza Minghetti, piazza Galvani. A multitude of alleys and alleys, enclosed among tall medieval buildings, crowded with people and craft shops, taverns, historic shops, pasta factories, bakeries, sausage shops, fishmongers, greengrocers, groceries, florists and much more.

Remember that in some of these shops, in addition to buying, it is also possible to stop in taste the typical products directly premises, especially this also happens in the Middle Market, the covered market which is located right in the middle of the Quadrilatero (it has two entrances, one from Via Clavature or one from Via Pescherie Vecchie).
I absolutely recommend you to taste before buying, if possible, not so much to check the quality, but because everything is so good that it is always worth it. The colors and flavors of Bologna will win you over.
With a short walk you can also go to the other famous market, the Herb Market, the largest covered market in the city center. For over a hundred years, you have found beautiful and fresh fruit and vegetables here, as well as cold cuts, fish and much more. If you need a stop, inside the Mercato delle Erbe, you will also find a pleasant meeting point dedicated to food to eat on the spot. The main one is Other but also all the surrounding cafes deserve.
Food is what allows you to bond in the most pleasant way tourism and culture, a way to discover a place through its most earthly traditions. Bologna in this sense is perfect, it will not disappoint you.
