Stockholm, the Millennium Trilogy tour

Stockholm it is also the city of the novels of Stieg Larsson, the father of the Millennium trilogy. During my trip to Stockholm I have repeatedly found bars, clubs and places, especially in Södermalm the old town, where the settings of the films and books of the Millennium Trilogy. Especially a Södermalm the events set in Men Who Hate Women take place.

To give some addresses and some physical places to visit, here is a little tour on the Millennium Trilogy:

In Södermalm there is Södermalmstorg, the square where, according to the novels, the offices of the Milton Security, where Lisbeth Salander worked. There is also a Citywalk: Stieg Larsson Millennium Tour, for the more passionate for a guided tour of the most popular places, for a fee at SEK 120.

A Götgatan, are the Millennium offices. Here there are many cafes, restaurants and clubs. At the intersection with Hökens Gata is the place where, according to Larsson's novels, Mikael Blomkvist, the editorial staff of Millennium magazine, goes to work every day. In the books it is located above the Greenpeace headquarters.

In Fiskargatan, Lisbeth Salander buys an apartment with 21 rooms of which she uses only 3. On the door it says “V. Kulla ”, an allusion to the Swedish name of Pippi Longstocking's house.

In Bellmansgatan lives Mikael Blomkvist. The apartment is located in the hills of Söder, an area full of history among the most enchanting in Stockholm. Numerous key events in history take place here, for example in the third book the attempts at espionage.

In Mellqvists kaffebar, Hornsgatan there is the café in Södermalm frequented by Mikael Blomkvist and by Stieg Larsson himself. The writer was among his regulars when the editorial office of Expo, the magazine he worked for, was upstairs.

In Tjärhovsgatan there's Kvarnen, the place where Larsson's second book, The Girl Who Played with Fire, begins. It is practically located in Medborgarplatsen, in front of the Debaser Medis club, a place not to be missed if you like live rock music.

Lo Sheraton Stockholm Hotel, that is the place of intimate encounters between Mikael Blomqvist and Harriet Vagner, offers a “Millennium package” which includes: an overnight stay with breakfast, a Millennium guide with its map and a free coffee at the Mellqvist kaffebar.
