Roaming rates for those traveling abroad

THEEuropean Union approved the new regulation concerning roaming tariffs with the aim of lowering costs for those who surf or call from abroad by 90%. The project will be definitively concluded in 2014 because the tariffs will be slowly lowered little by little.

With the introduction of the new rules, making a call from abroad costs the most 29 cents per minute and receive it only 8. Send a sms costs 9 cents and every megabyte of downloaded data costs 70 cents. Prices are exclusive of VAT. All this, however, is intended only for European Union countries, it is good to remember this in order not to run into errors and astronomical bills.

To be sure of what you will spend on your trip, however, I recommend that you go to the your telephone company and ask for confirmation on prices, so if nothing else, start with a light heart. Surfing abroad has always been almost taboo, but if you know what you are spending at least you are prepared for the bill you will receive. Finally, last news, if you do not want to incur big surprises and do not have to use the telephone by force for work, always try to find the rooms with wifi.

Returning to us, some of the new rules also concern travelers / workers who travel to countries that are not part of the EU. To avoid unpleasant surprises, European citizens on the go will receive a text message or an email when their spending approaches € 50 or maximum data transfer limit.

A starting from 2014 the market will be almost completely liberalized and consumers will be free to enter into roaming contracts with operators from other EU countries, without losing their phone number.
