A famous Neapolitan song said "Vide 'o mare de Surriento, What a treasure tene nfunno, Who has shot everything' o munno, Nun saw it comm'a ccà, [...] Ma nun me lassà, Nun darme stu turmiento, Come back in Surriento ".
And that's exactly what I did on a summer day, I went back to dear Sorrento, to be able to appreciate again what it has to offer, focusing above all on Piano di Sorrento.
Piano di Sorrento: Amalfi Coast
It is an Italian municipality of the metropolitan city of Naples which occupies the central part of the Sorrento peninsula on the Amalfi Coast, bordering the municipalities of Meta, Vico Equense and Sant'Agnello. To the north, the coast, made up of high tuff cliffs, overlooks the Gulf of Naples. The Plan, the ancient Roman Planities, is mostly indicated by its citizens with the two toponyms of Carotto and Cassano: uncertain etymologies that according to most would refer to the effects of an ancient earthquake that would have damaged one area (broken cà) and preserved another (healthy cà). And Cassano - its inhabitants of Cassano, as opposed to Carottesi - is the name of the Marina: small fishing village, down, at the bottom of steep hairpin bends on the edge of the high cliff of Sorrento tuff.
The climate and fishing
This municipality has such a favorable climate that it enjoys flourishing tourism throughout the year. Attracting tourists from all over the world, who can't help but stay on some of its most beautiful beaches. The beaches of Marina di Cassano and Caterina Beach in fact, they offer visitors clear waters and refreshment points just a few meters from the sea. A small marina equipped for pleasure and fishing boats makes these places even more suggestive.
What to see in Piano di Sorrento
Among the buildings of major interest are: the famous Villa Fondi de Sangro, historic building located on a panoramic terrace, overlooking the small port of the town and surrounded by a typical Sorrento garden of citrus, olive trees and exotic plants.
Villa Lauro, one of the greatest expressions of neoclassical architecture, now home to a shipping company.
The Colonna Castle built in 1872 on the ruins of the ancient Abbey of San Pietro and Cermenna. This building now houses several private apartments, a bathhouse and a restaurant.
Also worth mentioning: the Basilica of San Michele Arcangelo with the facade in Baroque style, the Church of the Holy Trinity with a square bell tower and a clock from 1765 and the Church of Mercy with an internal flooring composed of terracotta and majolica tiles with designs of volutes, flowers and the Augustinian coat of arms of 1759.
Piano di Sorrento also boasts a flourishing vegetation of chestnut trees, in the Selva di Santa Caterina, and of beech and oak groves, both on Monte Vico Alvano, and in Scaricatoio in front of the Li Galli islands.
Several spring water courses run through the town, such as the Casa d'Ardia, Bassa Pezzella, Lamma, S. Massimo, Cassano.
Piano di Sorrento also has a strong commercial vocation, there are many shops along the main road. Corso Italia is the ideal place for those who want to go shopping.
A panoramic Hotel
During my stay in this magical and warm place, one of the wonders of the South, I was able to try for you theKlein Wien hotels. A charming hotel built overlooking the sea, in the most panoramic point of the Sorrentine peninsula.
Perfect starting point to discover all the splendid beauties of the Gulf of Naples, Sorrento and the Amalfi Coast.

I had the opportunity, thanks to this three-star hotel, to wake up every morning and first see the clear sea of the coast waiting for me for a day at the beach. Obviously not before going to the hotel restaurant where I was able to enjoy a completely abundant breakfast.
In addition, inside it is also possible to consume lunches and dinners with menus, enriched by dishes of the classic Sorrento and Neapolitan tradition. All with the sea as a backdrop, making your drink magical.
The beaches are easily reachable on foot in 7-8 minutes or via a convenient municipal lift. And they also have a large garage (for a fee) located behind the hotel.
I can therefore assure you that whatever idea you have of a tourist stay, whatever your personality, the Hotel Klein Wien, with its fantastic staff, is the perfect location to spend unforgettable days in the Sorrento peninsula.
But what to do once outside the hotel? Well as you have read above there are so many places to visit in the area. But if you have time to get away from the place, you can also reach destinations such as Pompeii, Herculaneum, Amalfi e Capri.
A delicious dinner
During my stay I preferred to stay in the area. After visiting the places mentioned above, in the evening we indulged in a delicious dinner based on traditional dishes in a small restaurant in the port: Fracatell 'restaurant. Table service was kind enough to make us feel pampered. And how not to mention the desserts, which were a blast. Everything is seasoned with simplicity and high quality, which make their traditional dishes cooked like at home, without many frills. And also Mrs. Anna is so kind, to inform and advise her customers, especially on the catch of the day.
Piano di Sorrento will not disappoint you: your stay will be truly magical.
