During my last patrol in the Emilia area I found myself having lunch in Modena al Negresco. The place they tell me is very popular and well known, and actually it doesn't even pass ten minutes after our arrival that the place fills up quickly.
Negresco is a 'brand' present not only in Modena, but also in Sassuolo, Formigine and Casalgrande (Reggio Emilia). The service was really fast, the staff were kind and available for changes to the menus. I chose, also for practicality, only a second which consisted of a breaded chicken breast, a aubergine lying on top with salted ricotta flakes and a small portion of fennel with bechamel.
Whenever I am in Emlia it is always for work and therefore I have not been able to take advantage of a glass of good wine as a Lambrusco di Sorbara, really a pity, since I had to get back to driving.
The place is also a café and pizzeria, furnished in a modern style, very bright and I would say that the customers around me were for business lunch or simply on a lunch break. Although I chose the proposal of the day, I still took a look at the menu and there is no shortage of typical dishes of the Emilian and Modenese tradition, as well as numerous menu variations.
Definitely an environment to try in the evening, perhaps in two and in complete calm. The restaurant is in via Emilia Est 996 and has a large parking lot, so you won't have any problems for your car. If I really have to find a flaw maybe the background music, a bit too loud, but once I started eating who thought about it anymore?
