Christmas markets in Copenhagen, visit the wooden houses and stop at the Absolute Ice Bar or a stop at the Tivoli Gardens for a weekend of magic.
If you do not have cold problems and are willing to pass a December weekend in a Nordic capital, why not think about heading to Copenhagen? You will find a relaxing atmosphere and Christmas lights and colors decorated and covered with soft snow.
Let yourself be enveloped by the frozen canals and walk along the long avenue that leads from it Royal Library (one of the largest libraries in Scandinavia nicknamed the "Black Diamond" due to the unusual architectural structure) arrives at Kastellet, a military fortification with characteristic red houses located on the highest point of the city.
From mid-December until Christmas Eve, in Copenhagen Christmas markets are open in the most characteristic area of Copenhagen, Nyhavn. The long quay of the famous canal comes alive in the evening thanks to the numerous cafes, bars and restaurants that turn their gaze on ships with a Viking flavor. Our advice is to sip a beer sitting on the wood of the "Nyhavn17", perhaps the most famous club on the canal.
Until the end of December, instead, take a walk in the gardens of Tivoli, the green lung of Copenhagen. Not only restaurants and stalls but also an ice rink and games for the little ones. Tivoli is a beautiful park that comes alive at Christmas and becomes truly characteristic with games and stalls for adults and children. Here you live like in a fairy tale. There are many opportunities for fun, but also the possibility to find and buy for friends or relatives, some characteristic objects, local crafts or warm clothes for the winter.
If you are not yet satiated with the cold and want to spend a different evening than usual, you can try theAbsolute Ice Bar housed in the Hotel 27, in the heart of the city. In the room, underground, you can breathe a constant temperature of -5 °. At the entrance, maximum 50 people per group, you will be equipped with a blue duvet and black gloves (you will look like real Penguins). You will taste an excellent Absolut cocktail directly into glasses of ice and you will taste reindeer meat. The interior of the venue is entirely made of ice, including stools and walls.
A nice way to experience Christmas in the company of friends or getting to know someone directly in the Absolute Ice Bar. A fun way to get to know the city of Copenhagen both in its traditional places, such as the city's canal, Nyhavn, or in Tivoli, more modern and dimici like the now famous and fun Absolute Ice Bar.
