Eat at the Kukeke bistro bar in Tallinn

I was lucky enough to visit Tallinn in Estonia a few months ago, in the middle of January. Thanks to the fast connection from Helsinki, in two and a half hours on board the MS Finland of the Eckeroline I arrived at the port of the Estonian capital.

The city was totally white with snow and yet there was no problem walking its streets and alleys. His is still evident in Tallinn Soviet past, and it shows even more in the area near the port where there are wooden houses and large abandoned factories. However, there is an evident architectural, cultural and creative ferment. In the little tour I did it was very noticeable how two Tallinn coexisted, basically.

It is a very young city and of course I was also able to appreciate it from a gastronomic point of view. In the area of the train station I had lunch in a very welcoming bistro bar, Kukeke. The building dates back to the early 800s but has recently been renovated with a decidedly modern cut in its interiors, in full respect of Nordic design. In the past it had been a railway depot. Many young people at the tables with their tablets or smartphones connected to the network, intent on eating and working and so we found a place upstairs.

While it was snowing outside, I tasted a really tempting dish, one 'salad' of tomatoes, rocket, carrot puree, a bed of beetroot and a walnut cheese. All for 7,20 € which is not an exorbitant figure. My goal is to go back in the summer not only to return to Kukeke, but to discover other hidden corners of the Estonian capital.
