Where to sleep in Berlin: Scandic Hotel Potsdamer Platz

The review of the Scandic Hotel in Potsdamer Platz, a hotel with quality and economical services, but above all central for those who, in addition to saving, want to feel good on holiday.

Booking the hotel is the second thing I do when planning a trip. The first is the plane ticket: I look for flights on the days and times that interest me, then I dedicate myself to the hotel. The choice of the host structure is an art: it is true that even when I think "I only stay in the room for a few hours and take a shower", then I don't like being between four peeling walls, with stained carpet feet and a falling shower across the hall.

So, for my trip to Berlin I started from booking my flight with airberlin, choosing a direct from Barcelona to Tegel. Prices are very competitive, with rates starting at 80 euros.

Once the transportation issue was resolved, I started looking for a place where to sleep. I had no special needs, apart from a few fixed points: the central location, the bathroom in the room, the breakfast included and an affordable rate. At this point, every time I hope that the spark will go off: you know when you see the images of a room, of a corner of a hotel and understand that this is the place for you?

For me it happened with the Scandic Hotel: it was love at first sight, the instant I saw the photos online. I checked availability and rates and booked a double for the three nights of my stay.

There are two hotels of the chain in Berlin Scandic: one at Potsdamer Platz, the other at Kurfürstendamm. Given the proximity to the places I wanted to see, I chose it Scandic Potsdamer Platz, less than five minutes walk from the S-Bahn and U-Bahn stop of the same name.

The decision turned out to be excellent, both for the position, Both for the quality Scandinavian-style hotel, complete with (fake) moose heads that decorate the walls.
The building - like most of the buildings in the area - is of recent construction and houses the ten floors of the hotel. The rooms they are spacious, bright and clean, in perfect Nordic style.
The king-size bed is comfortable, the wooden floor is warm and the view of the skyscrapers of Potsamder Platz is perfect.
Excellent too breakfast buffet, with a wide choice of organic and vegan products.

There is also a gym, a spa and a restaurant available to guests. THE prices are competitive for a city like Berlin: doubles start at 99 euros per night with breakfast included.

I really appreciated the availability of the girls at the reception, where you can also buy the Berlin WelcomeCard.
And then that little gesture makes guests feel special: chocolate and fresh fruit every afternoon upon returning to the room.
