Where to eat in the summer in Florence: ice cream, smoothies, restaurants

Consider the summer temperatures visit (and eat) a Firenze in recent months it must not be an easy undertaking. Avoiding queues or sandwiches eaten risking sunstroke, I tried to draw up one personal ranking of oases of peace suitable to be enjoyed in summer.

For breakfast I would opt for the coffee shop Brac. Eating among books relaxes me and of all the Florentine restaurants of this type, Brac is the most airy and bright. If you get up late, it also offers an excellent and tasty one brunch. It is located between Piazza della Signoria and Piazza Santa Croce, in full historical center. It also always organizes unusual contemporary art exhibitions.

This choice allows you to visit the principalsthe monuments from the historic center of Florence until lunchtime, when you head towards via dell'Oriuolo, the road that leads from Santa Croce to the Duomo. Right in the middle of a meeting is located Lovelife, a shop of smoothies and milk shakes. Already drinking a substantial centrifuge (with very eloquent names, such as Adelante, Take it easy, Kamasutra) would be enough for a quick refreshment break, but the offer is much wider. Cous cous, basmati rice, spelled salads, fruit salads, fruit yogurt, vegetable soups: the choice is really difficult! In addition, I recommend having lunch in the goes up to the lower floor: being a historic building, there is always a refreshing cool. Jazz music background, newspapers always available and Free wifi.

From there you can conclude your visit of the center and if you feel like a gelato, I recommend that of Ponte alla Carraia, outside the tourist-catching circuits and at the entrance to the lively San Frediano district. In the surroundings shops of all kinds and streets that revive Pratolini's work.

For the evening I recommend moving to the district of San Niccolò, at the foot of Piazzale Michelangelo (which could be worth a visit after dinner for the beautiful panorama of Florence by night). Right near the Rose Garden (free and enriched with splendid sculptures by Folon) from which you can enjoy an excellent panoramic view of the city, in a secluded street is the Beppa Fioraia. The colorful restaurant has opened a beautiful outdoor garden for summer evenings and offers Tuscan menus at affordable prices (from € 22 to € 35). It's always full and worth booking in advance.
