Düsseldorf in 24h: where to start
Cut in two by the River Rhine, Düsseldorf is best known for its industries.
The city is in fact home to great iron and steel, mechanical, textile, chemical, paper, food, electrical and glass complexes.
Today it is well known for the fashion industry and its art scene.
1. Start at Burgplatz
This central square hosts most of the historical monuments of the city. Easy to reach both on foot and by public transport, it is the ideal place from which to start yours 24h in Düsseldorf.
The square is really nice, a fountain in the center, a tower, and a Ferris wheel, make the atmosphere, already splendid in itself, really pleasant.
2. Take a walk along the banks of the Rhine
Burgplatz is located on the banks of the Rhine, so to reach it walk along the banks of the river enjoying the view.
3. Go shopping in Koenigsallee
If you are a shopping lover, you can't miss a visit to Koenigsallee.
Koenigsallee is the shopping street in Düsseldorf.
All the major big brands and clothing chains are located along this street. It is a place that all fashion lovers should definitely visit. Here the atmosphere is that of a large commercial area, where thousands of people enter and leave the boutiques and stroll through the windows of huge buildings.
4. Take a tour of the Carlsplatz Markt market
The market of Carlsplatz Markt it was one of the places, together with the Altstadt, that most impressed me in Düsseldorf.
A myriad of stalls of meat, cheese, bread, fish, ready meals, plants and much more.
The market is also a place to taste something typical, but arm yourself with patience if you don't know German, because communicating is a bit complicated, or at least it was for me.
Despite the inconvenience, it is still one of the places that I recommend, especially if you love to immerse yourself in local customs and savor the taste of the typical.
5. The Altstadt
It is known that the historic centers and the neighborhoods that preserve the authenticity of the place are always the most beautiful. The Aldstadt, or old City, is no exception to this rule; its cobbled streets and the hundreds of local and typical houses that characterize it are truly wonderful.
The Altstadt is also the ideal place to experience firsthand how Germans experience the culture of the bar and beyond. One of the characteristic places of the Aldstadt is Bolkerstraße, the street that some define as "the longest bar in the world".

Staying, like getting around and getting to Dusseldorf, is not expensive at all, quite the contrary.
If you choose well, you can find the right location at a very reasonable price for the entire stay, not to mention very frequent flights at very low prices. I recommend you sleep in the old part of Düsseldorf, even if it is generally a little more expensive (but it is not necessarily), it is really characteristic and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
