Volkshotel in Amsterdam: where it is located

Considered one of the “cool” hotels in Amsterdam, it is housed in a large eight-storey building which, until a few years ago, housed the headquarters of one of the main newspapers of the Dutch city. Secluded from the historic center, it still enjoys a strategic position. This is also thanks to the Wibautstraat metro stop just outside the hotel: in just three stops you arrive at the nerve center Central Station.

There is nearby Quartier Pijp, one of the areas of the city in strong growth and out of the canonical tourist circuits, full of many nice places for a dinner or simply for a drink.

Bike rental service from the Volkshotel in Amsterdam

For those who are more daring and want to fully enjoy the Amsterdam experience, they cannot give up on bicycle rental. It is certainly also the best way to get around the maze of streets that line the numerous canals.

The Volkshotel offers a direct rental service at a very advantageous cost.
Thanks to its location, in 15 minutes of pedaling you will reach the Museum District or the Zentrum. In another 15 you will find yourself at brewery mill.
However, everything will be within a very short or acceptable distance.

Volkshotel: a unique style

The Volkshotel impresses with its style and design. As soon as you enter, your gaze will inevitably be attracted not only by the huge space of the hall, but also by the gigantic old style lighted sign hanging just above the reception.
This is just one of the many items of furniture and memorabilia representative of one industrial style contaminated by a vintage 60s-70s design through which all the spaces of the Volkshotel took shape.

The large hall has been cleverly divided into different areas: the reception, behind which there is one trailer (yes indeed a caravan!) used as a shop to buy the very original hotel gadgets. The open-space area with wooden tables for those who want to work, study, co-work with adjoining meeting rooms with large transparent windows. Finally the long bar counter, one of the three present in the Volkshotel, which comes alive from breakfast until late at night, when the Volks becomes a place also frequented by locals for evenings with live music or DJ sets.

In fact, the Volks is not the classic hotel to simply sleep in: it is a real meeting place which can be experienced at any time of day thanks to its clubs that come alive at night such as the Doka “secret bar” or the Canvas located on the top floor of the hotel. Not to mention the numerous cultural and artistic events or live concerts during the weekend. Keep an eye on the program that is displayed weekly right in the lobby or on their website.

The trendy rooms of the Volkshotel

The rooms are the further strength of this structure, perfect for design lovers or for all those looking for a hotel that does not have the classic aseptic and cold rooms. There are two bookable categories that also meet the different spending capacities: the Special rooms and the Standard rooms in turn divided between Sir Petit (the smallest), Sir Standard Sister where you sleep on a sort of futon, Sir Standard and Miss Big suitable for families or if you are more friends.

All the stadard, cheaper than the special rooms, are treated in detail following a line with a minimal and essential style. As for the special rooms, definitely more expensive but definitely more particular, you can choose between the different themed rooms according to your tastes. Names are a whole program such as, just to name a few, the Bathin bikou, the Zen room with a super wooden tub, the Cabin in the wood with its original suspended bed almost as if it were a mega swing, the bodoir Cinema destined for those who want to experience a weekend with spicy tones from "red light district" to the one with a huge cardboard moose in the room, difficult to choose ... It's a pity not to try them all!

Breakfast for all tastes

Breakfast is not included, you can decide to have it in the room on the top floor for 12 euros per person with a super abundant buffet formula (brioches, fruit, yogurt, coffee, cinnamon biscuits and even freshly cut ginger), in the local ground floor with the “a-la-carte” formula (where you can choose between huge American-style cakes) or not to make it right in the hotel.

Volkshotel Amsterdam, sleep in a Trendy Hotel: review

The hotel, unlike what one might think, is absolutely affordable and excellent value for money, especially when compared to many other solutions of the same level but certainly not with such a particular style. So, definitely not to be missed!
