Venice Carnival, all events dedicated to children

Venice Carnival, all events dedicated to children

On the occasion of the Carnival in Venice, every year, many ad-hoc events are organized for the little ones in some of the most beautiful and often less known cultural places in the city. Often these initiatives are free or at very affordable prices, dedicated to children and teenagers of all age groups. Why not take advantage of these opportunities to escape the crowds of Piazza San Marco and enjoy these moments in the company of the whole family?

The intense program starts as early as February 5th, when the first of the numerous "Ateliers" opens from Querini Stampalia Foundation which include workshops, readings, games and activities that will continue throughout the Carnival period.
On February 15, it comes alive with In Perdifiaba: Palazzo Grimani for three Saturdays will host the animated reading of stories by Katherine Briggs, accompanied by accordions and represented with particular scenographies, followed by a special snack. For children and teenagers, admission is free or at a reduced price (€ 3 from 12 years).

From the first weekend the days of cinema and theater for the little ones: three shows of Fondamenta Kids, The Legend of the Flying Rabbit, February 15; Sleeping Beauty and the Big Five on March 1st and 2nd, at the Fondamenta Nuove Theater. Numerous animated films and films are screened at the Casa del Cinema, including some by director Miyazaki, always dear to the theme of the magic of nature. At the Ateneo Veneto, on Tuesday 25 February the concerts "Pierino and the wolf and" Babar the elephant "are scheduled, while at the Teatro della Murata on February 28 and March 1 will be staged" Kong, the eighth wonder del mondo ”show with music, clownish games and delirious dramaturgy dedicated to young and old.

From Saturday 22 February to 4 March at the Giardini della Biennale the 5th International Children's Carnival “The biscuit house”. The central pavilion will be animated by live performances, workshops, activities with schools, visits to the Arsenale and a Sartoria Atelier in Ca 'Giustinian, where children can create costumes and masks using recycled materials.
Sunday 23 instead children between 4 and 10 years can participate for free (but by reservation) to a educational workshop organized by the Guggenheim Foundation and linked to the theme "Fantastic Nature", perhaps even while parents take advantage of the free guided tours of the museum. Thursday 27 (but also 1, 2 and 4 March) at the Querini Stampalia Foundation it will then be possible to visit the collection thanks to itineraries “The tales of Diana, the goddess, and the magic of nature”, suitable for the whole family and offered in both Italian and French.

The Carnival for the little ones will then close with the appointments scheduled for March 3 and 4 "Down the mask: let's discover the secrets of mimicry in nature" at House of the Three Oci, in Giudecca, during which children can participate in workshops inspired by the photographic exhibition GENESI by Sebastião Salgado.

Then I advise you to keep an eye on the official website because it is likely that it will be integrated again, the definition of events is constantly evolving, so the program will probably be even richer!
