Un tour of Slovenia by car is perhaps the best way to discover all the beauties of this country. Slovenia occupies just over 20 square kilometers, yet it has a great variety of attractions and landscapes to offer.
So here are our tips for the stops not to be missed during a trip to Slovenia.
Portoroz
Portorož is one of the most famous and popular seaside resorts in Slovenia, both in summer and in winter. Even when the weather is not quite seaside, Portoroz offers entertainment, casinos and spa for a wellness stay.
Very close to the Italian border, it is usually the first stop for those embarking on a tour of Slovenia by car.
Not far from Portorož there are the salt flats of Piran, which can be visited. Also not to be missed is the small but fascinating center of Piran, with its cathedral that dominates the seaside town from a hill.
Postumia caves
One of the most visited attractions in Slovenia for centuries.
Postojna Cave are one of the most important examples in the world of karst phenomena. And you will notice it as you go underground among its galleries, full of stalactites, stalagmites, columns and other bizarre shapes created by nature over thousands of years.

Triglav national park

It is the only national park in the country and owes its name to highest peak in Slovenia, Mount Triglav.

Gorges of Tolmin
Breathtakingly beautiful, the Tolmin gorges represent the lowest and southernmost point of the Triglav National Park.

Ljubljana

A magical place that seems straight out of a fairy tale.
Before your eyes will appear the lake, crossed by typical colored boats, the church in the middle of it and the castle that watches over the city from above.
