Tokyo, 10 things not to miss

Tokyo: the fascinating metropolis with a thousand faces. Read the post to find out what you really shouldn't miss on your trip.

My stay in Tokyo it lasted about a week, the things to see are many but I will try to summarize them in a short list 10 most beautiful things, those that you cannot miss for anything in the world.

Tokyo, 10 things not to miss

1. Roppongi Hills

At the top of my TOP10 is definitely Roppongi Hills. When I was in Tokyo and I read the name of this neighborhood I do not hide that I burst out laughing (yes, the name was very hilarious for me), but as soon as I walked there I fell in love: it is a place full of shops , restaurants, department stores, hotels, museums and apartments. The thing that stands out most of all, however, is definitely there Tokyo Tower which is inspired by the Eiffel Tower Parisian.

Only advice: whether you go there in the morning, afternoon or evening (I recommend the latter) bring a camera because you will be truly speechless when you see its lights and the colors of the neighborhood.

2. Ueno Park

Surely the most popular park in the city, it offers breathtaking walks in the midst of nature, especially in spring when the cherry trees they bloom. Inside there are also important museums such as the Tokyo National Museum and Shitamachi Museum, but also it Zoo and a couple of sanctuaries that can be visited.

3. Tokyo SkyTree

The most famous panoramic telecommunication tower in the city. It rises to Sumida, completed in 2012 but already from 2010 it was the highest in Japan (634m high); it is the tallest tower in the world and the second tallest man-made structure in the world after Burj Khalifa of Dubai. One evening, however, not too late (consult the timetables because they change every month), go to the top floor and remain silent in front of the majesty of the view that this tower offers you.

4. Asakusa

Asakusa is certainly the most characteristic area as it is not that difficult to still meet girls strolling around kimono and numerous rickshaw. Located north-east of central Tokyo, it is very easy to reach thanks to the line Ginza of the subway. Don't miss the Sensō-ji Temple.

5. Sensō-ji Temple

The Sensō-ji is a Templar complex in the Asakusa district and is the oldest in the city. Take a few hours to see the whole complex because it is really worth it: start by getting lost in the various markets of typical objects such as kimonos, sushi chopsticks and fans, and then continue exploring accompanied by the numerous incense of the Sanctuary.

6. Akihabara

Calling it a neighborhood would be wrong as I believe the right definition is "huge supermarket" in regards to electronics; in fact here, you can really buy everything, from the smallest and simplest gadget to the sophisticated and complex object. (Arm yourself with a lot of patience because here there will be bargaining and if you are good you will be able to do your own things with a more than honest price).

7. Shinjuku

Shinjuku is defined by almost everyone as the beating heart of Tokyo (and I join those who say it !!), it is nice to visit during the day, but especially in the evening when all the neon lights in the neighborhood turn on.

8. Shibuya

It may seem absurd but there are two main symbols of this neighborhood: the statue of Hachiko and the very famous crossroad; the first tells the story of a dog who waited every day for his master at Shibuya station, even after his death, while the second is the famous scramble crossing, a crosswalk famous all over the world (seeing it with your own eyes is something unreal, I assure you).

9 Nikko

Nikko is a city in the mountainous region of the prefecture of Tochigi (about 140km north of Tokyo). Tourist destination because it contains very ancient historical monuments that have made it enter the UNESCO World Heritage Sites; surely we remember the Nikko temple (to go and see absolutely !! Be prepared to sweat though, to visit the whole temple you will need perseverance and breath given its height difference due to the elevated position) and the Futurasan Temple.

10. Tsukiji fish market

Without doubt the greatest fish market of the world, it covers a very large area, obtained from a burial. One morning, arm yourself with determination and wake up before dawn to be in this area at 4.30, the time when the market takes on the highest value since right now there is the sale of fish and I assure you that it is something not to be missed.
