Three places to relax in Stockholm

What to do in Stockholm to relax or enjoy the surrounding nature? Here are three wonderful parks in the beautiful Swedish city.

Are you traveling, have you ever wanted to find a place to relax, but you only have the map with the tourist itineraries already marked? Or, more simply, do you want to discover a different side of the city you are in? This happened to me Stockholm.

Three places to relax in Stockholm

Stockholm is a beautiful city and can be visited comfortably in four days. During my trip I discovered some really quiet corners that you won't regret if you choose to go there!

Rålambshovsparken

The Rålambshovsparken is a park overlooking the water, the Riddarfjärden. From the driveway that runs along the shore, you will have a view of Stockholm that sweeps over tree-lined hills and fishermen's moorings south of the city, passing by the view of Gamla Stan that stands out in the center of the fjord. On your left you will have a tree-lined promenade that in just under ten minutes will take you to the Town Hall (I recommend visiting at least its garden. It is a terrace directly on the sea enriched with decorations made with plants, columns and fountains ).

There are several in the park refreshment points to drink and eat something; if the day allows you to be outdoors, take advantage of the verandas available. The administration has also thought about the little ones, so if you are in the company of children, a playground has been set up for them too. It doesn't take long to get there from the center; I recommend, however, to pass from the south bank of the city; on the Södermalm promenade. Boats adapted to floating hotels are moored in these quays. To reach the park you will have to cross a bridge on foot, it is not very long and for the 180 ° view of Stockholm that you will have from the center of the bridge it will be absolutely worth it!

Observatoriekullen

As you can guess from the name, the old observatory gives its name to the hill that is located in the heart of the Vasastan district. The observatory worked until 1931 then the institution had to move to meet the needs of the studies, as the city (and its lights) were developing.

It is very difficult not to notice its characteristic conformation: it rises rapidly reaching 42 meters in height. Crossing its paths (beware of mosquitoes at certain times of the year!) You can get to some benches that are placed where you can have a view towards the city center. It is a classic meeting point for couples and friends to enjoy the view. Nothing special, but relaxing in the evening and at sunset. To get there, just follow the Drottninggatan north to the various entrances.

Skeppsholmen - Kastellholmen

Kastellholmen is one of the smallest islands in Stockholm, directly overlooks the great fjord. Take some time to relax sitting on a bench or directly on the smooth, dark rock of this islet. This is a little known area and it is rare to find many people there who are not there for the same reason as you, as there is nothing attractive on the islet. Relax following the slow traffic of boats, boats, ships and a playground built in front of this islet, of which the music plays a light background. The only building on this islet is a small military battery of the Swedish army. The islet being very stretched out towards the gulf was certainly a good observation point.

Kastellhomen is connected to Skeppsholmen, the island that hosts the Moderna Museet, the museum of modern art. Inside there are works of all kinds, from photography to sculpture. The Moderna Museet as well as having a permanent collection periodically sets up temporary exhibitions (When I went I was set up on architectural modeling and bicycles!). The cost of the entrance ticket for the permanent is 120sek (about thirteen euros) the cost of the other exhibitions vary (XNUMX-year-olds and minors do not pay the ticket for any of the exhibitions)
