The Parks of the Val di Cornia, Tuscany

The Parks of the Val di Cornia, Tuscany

In province of Livorno i Parks of the Val di Cornia represent a unique reality in Italy. Six areas on the coast and in the hills that trace the history of this territory, from the Etruscans to the present day, inserted in an integrated system.

The six areas are: Coastal Park of Sterpaia, Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia, Natural Park of Montioni, Archaeological Mines Park of San Silvestro, Forest Park of Poggio Neri. Each park obviously has many paths to do, all marked with hours and difficulties, are found in Official site. I have done several and they really deserve.

If you are near the park, go to one of the many tourist offices and ask for a map, above in the photo, which can make you understand where you are compared to the parks and which routes to prefer. Among the routes I recommend you also pay a visit to Archaeological Park of Baratti and Populonia which is located in Populonia precisely.
