The Fishermen's Festival in Vrsar, eat low cost fish

An event not to be missed during a holiday on the Istrian coast is the Fishermen's Day a Vrsar (Vrsar): this traditional event is organized six / seven times during the summer, the best way to get to know the traditions of this land and taste good and really fresh fish.

These popular festivals take place about once a month, from April to September along the port of the town, precisely where all the boats dock. Here 4 or 5 points are set up where the fishermen cook grilled sea bream, mussels, cuttlefish, shrimp, sardines and everything else that the sea offers in those days. The fish is obviously very fresh and cooked in a simple but tasty way.

The accommodation is for sure a bit spartan: each with his saucers must make space in the crowd and sit at the improvised tables there a step away from the sea. The cost of fish dishes is almost "ridiculous" given the quality: with about ten euros you will be satisfied.

Each time during dinner they are provided performances by local singers and also of groups dancing traditional Istrian dances in costume. It is a simple and unpretentious party, but certainly genuine and at the same time an opportunity for eat well and spend little, certainly something accessible to everyone!
