La Torre Eiffel is the most famous monument of Paris, known throughout the world as a symbol of the city and of France. There are two ways to climb to the top: i 1665 steps or two elevators transparent. The structure is divided into three levels open to the public, reachable both by lift and by stairs. In 1909 the Eiffel Tower was in danger of being demolished because it was contested by the city's artistic and literary elite. Even today, many Parisians do not appreciate this structure, calling it the steel asparagus instead.
The monument held the tallest construction record in the world until 1930, the year the Chrysler Building in New York was completed. On the top floor Gustave Eiffel had created an apartment in which he received the most illustrious guests; today there are the Eiffel statues together with Thomas Edison and his daughter Claire. The mechanisms of elevators are the original ones of 1889.
