The best way to get around Helsinki

When traveling to a foreign capital for a few days, the first thing I think about is how to see as many things in the shortest time as possible. If you can also save so much the better. In mid-January I found myself in ad Helsinki. It was not the first time but having to follow some activities that would take me who knows where, I chose to move with the rail tram for the half day free I had.

Usually I prefer to walk, but given the bitter cold in the days I was there (it was -13 °) I preferred the heat testing Finnish efficiency in public transport. So starting from the Hakaniemi stop, a stone's throw from the hotel where I was staying, I took the line 7a and then thewhich brought me near the main monuments of the capital such as the white Lutheran Cathedral and near the main squares and shopping places like Stockmann, a sort of Harrod's.

Helsinki is certainly not a metropolis, however it is beautiful big and having a comfortable vehicle like the tram not bad. All those who use this public service have a magnetic card to pass on a reader present in every tram or bus of public transport. Not only that, most trams have a Wi-Fi internal that allows you to surf for free and tickets can also be purchased via sms at number 16355. Or you can buy them directly from the driver. Traveling around Helsinki, a single ride costs € 2,80, € 8 for a full day, € 2 for 12 days, € 3 for 16 days. The cost may seem high, but the punctuality of the means is exceptional.
