Strolling through the Marais, Paris

    Strolling through the Marais, Paris

It will not have the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre or the Champs Elysees, but the Marais - Parisian neighborhood between the XNUMXrd and XNUMXth arrondissements - has a liveliness and a desire to live than few other places!

Located on the right bank of the Senna, embedded between the Hotel de Ville, place del la Bastille and place de la Republique, is the ideal place to spend an afternoon of shopping and then stop for an aperitif or for dinner and after dinner, without neglecting the cultural side.

As soon as it reopens to the public - it is now closed for restoration - I recommend that you start by visiting the Picasso Museum, dedicated to the works and part of the collection of the great artist; to then move on to the Memorial de la Shoah, where a temporary and a permanent exhibition reconstructs the history of the destruction of the French Jewish community; and finally rest your legs and mind in the garden located in the center of the beautiful place des Vosges.

Once resumed, stroll under the arcades that line the square admiring the works exhibited in the numerous gallery and then feast your eyes on the shop windows, from those of emerging designers to second-hand ones: there is something for all budgets.

Then when you decide it's time to eat something you will be spoiled for choice: in five days, without leaving the Marais, I ate Chinese, Japanese, Italian, French and, of course, kosher - since part of the Parisian Jewish community resides here.

Finally, have a drink while enjoying the casual and multicultural atmosphere of this neighborhood where some of the most beautiful gay clubs in the world.
