Southern Cross at Agnes Water: Australia's best hostel

Southern Cross it was perhaps my favorite hostel, one of the few in which I would have spent many more days. It is found at Agnes Water, a town famous above all for the islands of Lady Musgrave and Lady Elliot: unmissable.

The atmosphere is beautiful, relaxed and in perfect Balinese style. The hostel was built by the owners themselves and in the common room, where there is the reception, the kitchen and the bar, there are photos of the works over the years.

Le rooms they are organized in bungalows, in which there are 2,4,6 beds with or without bathroom. Each has a small veranda overlooking the immense garden that frames this hostel. It is also one of the few really clean hostels, especially the kitchen.

The interesting thing is that the water is collected directly from the rains, so there is a very strong attention to the surrounding environment. The staff, mostly made up of English guys, is courteous and very nice and is always looking for new staff.

Finally the prices: in the norm, start at $ 25.
