Singapore: sleeping at Hotel 81, the review

The review of the Hotel 81 Heritage Singapore, a hotel located in the Arab-inspired neighborhood, just steps from the subway. Well-functioning wifi included in the price: certainly a valid and economical solution!

There is no doubt and the rankings of recent years confirm this: Singapore it is a very expensive city, one of the most expensive in the world. And, of course, it is in comparison with other people's cities Southeast Asian countries! Spending on accommodation is always one of the most affecting the travel budget. But, with a few tricks, even in very expensive cities like Singapore, they can be found affordable accommodations. In this post, we will recommend theHotel 81 in Singapore.

Precisely because it is an immense, multicultural and extremely varied city, Singapore offers tourists a huge choice, in every sense: there are dozens and dozens of things to see, the ways to spend time, the places to eat and even those where to sleep.

Hotel 81, the location

The location of the accommodation is very subjective. However it is important to remember that whichever location you choose in Singapore, you will most likely have transport within a few dozen meters from you. The city of Singapore is large and impossible to get around on foot alone, but there network of buses, taxis (not particularly expensive) it is really functional.

Especially the modern and efficient underground network: available in any area of the city. So it's great if you find your dream accommodation in the city center, but don't worry if the hotel that made you fall in love is a little off the beaten path. Just take a look at the transport map and make sure the area is well served. In general, the areas that are well served and that host the most advantageous accommodations are the "ethnic" neighborhoods, that is Little India, Kampong Glam e Chinatown.

Hotel 81 Heritage Singapore, where it is located

For those who want to save as much as possible, Singapore has plenty of hostels. They are very basic hostels or definitely more modern and well-kept, with dorms or rooms with private bathroom. My travel companion, however, is not a big fan of hostels. So for my stay of 7 days in Singapore I opted for a small hotel belonging to the chain Hotel 81, Hotel 81 Heritage.

It is located in the area of Kampong Glam (the colorful Arab-inspired neighborhood). It is a few minutes from the metro stop Lavender. From here, the Marina Bay area, Gardens by the Bay and Singapore's CBD are just minutes away by tube. The hotel can also be reached on foot, with a nice walk from the center.

Why choose this structure

The delightful facade of the hotel, colonial-inspired and in a beautiful blue color, is the first factor that will make you opt for this accommodation. The second factor is, inevitably, the price: really affordable, even in the middle of summer in Singapore you will get a good deal!

The hotel is simply an "aggregation of rooms": there are no common areas or equipped halls. Even if the reception is open 24 hours a day, offers photocopying services, safety deposit boxes and luggage storage and, above all, is manned by very kind and always available people.

Rooms

The rooms are rather small and nicely decorated clean and simple, but clean and equipped with all the necessary services: private bathroom with shower and toiletries, television with satellite channels, telephone, kettle with tea and coffee, alarm clock, wi-fi included in the price (and working well). One of the most important features, in the hot and very humid July in Singapore, is theconditioned air at the reception and in all rooms, individually adjustable to suit your needs.

The surroundings of the hotel

In addition to being in the immediate vicinity of a convenient underground station, theHotel 81 Heritage it is in the heart of Kampong Glam. This is a lively neighborhood full of life by day and by night (although the rooms are very quiet). In the surroundings of the hotel you can find countless bars and cafes for breakfast, ethnic restaurants for dinner, shops selling typical handicrafts and native fruit stalls. The beautiful Sultan Mosque it is only a 10 minute walk away.

To sum it up, the Hotel 81 Heritage is characterized by very small but comfortable rooms, one helpful staff, a great location. For these reasons, I recommend it to those who are in Singapore only for a few days and do not usually spend too many hours in the hotel, but consider it only a support to be able to visit the city as much as possible. Thanks to its location and excellent value for money, Hotel Heritage 81 is a good solution.
