Ristorante da Cipriano, the low cost Michelin recommended in Trentino

Ristorante da Cipriano, the low cost Michelin recommended in Trentino

Being advised is always the best of things, especially on "where to eat". That's how I had the pleasure of going for dinner by Cyprian, in the country of Calavino, in Trentino.

The advice was: if you want to eat local things, and at an honest price, go to Cyprian, we always go there, you can eat anything. Given the area, I was tempted to go to Arco di Trento to eat the carne salada, but the advice seemed so sincere and heartfelt that I did not have the courage to let it fall into the void.

The restaurant da Cipriano, which I soon discovered was also recommended by the Michelin Guide, looks like a characteristic "mountain" trattoria, warm and welcoming, with not very few seats, but well fragmented into different rooms to keep the atmosphere reserved and familiar.

Cipriano, the fac-totum owner, is a nice gentleman who comes first to welcome you, rigorously dressed in a very elegant and accurate way. There is no menu list at the tables, perhaps also because the pleasure of telling you about his dishes does not want to yield to sheets of paper ...

It is so then that in choosing between 4 splendid and inviting first courses (dumplings, risotto with porcini mushrooms and truffles, strangolapreti with spinach and ravioli with radicchio and speck) I let myself be convinced, with my subsequent great satisfaction, to take the tasting dish, a poker of all 4 first courses, so as not to miss any! And it would have been a crime.

As a second I opt for one cut, very delicate, but I had to give up a venison stew, a grilled trout and I don't remember what else.

During dinner I asked for a glass of wine bulk, which I expected served as a carafe, or brought directly to the table. To my pleasant surprise, I was instead served a bottle of bulk wine, labeled with personalization "restaurant selection by Cipriano", from which to decide how many glasses to pour. And here too, from the glass asked, I went to two.

The desserts I have not tested them, but reviews I have read afterwards speak of them equally well. It will be for the next one.

The best surprise, however, is the bill. After a dinner of such quality and a first-rate service, combined with the “Michelin advice”, they might make you think you have to faint. And instead you get by at little more than in a pizzeria, since we spent two of us on 34-36 €. Highly recommended!
