Refuges where to eat or sleep in the Dolomites in the Province of Belluno

Five refuges in the Belluno Dolomites where you can eat but also sleep that can be reached on foot, by cross-country skiing, by snowcat, by cable car or by snowmobile. Five splendid experiences for taste and sight, five incredible places to be discovered in the Dolomites.

One of the things I most enjoyed doing in the Belluno Dolomites, it was sleeping and eating in places absolutely inserted in the context. Wonderful huts and mountain huts with a series of services suitable for both the lazy, with lots of sauna and turkish bath outdoors, both to the more adventurous and intrepid with many trails and activities to make a holiday in the Dolomites unforgettable.

Some of these refuges then, in the evening, become comfortable and familiar environments, in which to sit and chat between a glass of wine and a hot dish, admiring the enchanting panorama outside, sometimes the sunset, sometimes the snow-capped peaks of the Dolomites that look from a short distance away.

Pranolz Refuge, Borgo Valbelluna

The Pranolz Refuge was built in the 1950 from the Magagnin family, the same family that still manages it today. The Pranolz Refuge is located at 780 meters above sea level in Trichiana, in the Belluno Pre-Alps and not far from the main urban centers of Valbelluna. The refuge is a bed and breakfast which offers its guests both breakfast, with all local proposals, that the possibility of dinner. Also, one relaxation area and a spa are available to all visitors who want to take advantage of a complete and healthy relaxation in the Dolomites. Some of the rooms have been recently renovated as well as the extension of the spa area.

Malga Maraia, Auronzo di Cadore

Malga Maraia is located at 1696 meters, in Val d'Ansei at the foot of the Cadini di Misurina, in the municipality of di Cadore. The hut is inserted in one amazing natural setting. Malga Maraia can be reached on foot or in winter with a snowcat, but if you have time I recommend the walk or the skis for cross-country skiing or for ski alp. Upon arrival you will be overwhelmed by the beauty of this place where you can have dinner or at least eat for lunch, but still can't sleep. The hut is gearing up to be able to accommodate visitors even at night but at the moment it is not possible. I assure you that even just a coffee is worth it.

Col Drusciè Refuge, Cortina d'Ampezzo

The Col Drusciè Refuge is located in 1778 meters above sea level and is located in the municipality of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The refuge is located on the Col Drusciè, at the foot of the Tofane. The refuge can be reached thanks to the Arrow in the Sky which takes all skiers or visitors from the center of Cortina to the Refuge. Up here you can have lunch or dinner, but also simply have a snack with some typical dish, all portions are more than abundant. Next to the Col Drusciè Refuge there is also a astronomical observatory where it is possible to take guided tours to admire the sky of the Dolomites.

Da Aurelio Restaurant, Colle Santa Lucia

Ristorante Da Aurelio is not exactly a refuge or a hut but a real well known restaurant in Cortina D'Ampezzo, which is only 30 minutes away by car. Open from Aurelio Dariz in 1970, today it is managed by his son Gigi. A gourmet restaurant which offers dishes with refined flavors in a unique setting thanks to its outdoor terrace: a panoramic view of the Averau, the Sella massif and the Marmolada.

Mietres Refuge, Cortina d'Ampezzo

The Mietres Refuge is owned by the Menardi family and is located in 1710 meters of altitude in the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The peculiarities of this refuge are essentially two, the first is how it is reached, the second is given by the activities that can be done up here. The Mietres Refuge can be reached on foot with two short walks that are also suitable for families and children. The refuge can also be reached in winter with mountaineering skis, snowshoes or the snowmobile made available by the refuge. The second peculiarity is its tub, one large tub full of hot water that you can share with friends while waiting for the sunset or admiring the starry sky while drinking beer or a good glass of wine.
