Munich Christmas Markets

Munich Christmas Markets, all the dates and times of the beautiful German markets, to celebrate Christmas with pretzels and beer and buy many typical products.

In Munich there are more 25 different Christmas markets, but the main, original and historical one lies between Marienplatz and Rindermarkt, right in the center of the Bavarian capital.

In front of the Town hall (the Town Hall) you can admire the Christmas decorations and the 2500 lights, aspiring the cinnamon scent and cloves. And if you can find the time to give yourself one, with friends hot chocolate with caramelized almonds, a little gingerbread and a glass (or two) of mulled wine, you can be sure to recover from any stress of buying Christmas gifts and the semipolar temperature that accompanies Christmas in Munich.

One of the highlights of the market is the historical one Kripperlmarkt which has created a fairytale atmosphere since the mid-18th century with nativity scenes, figurines, shiny stars and lights of all shapes, sizes, colors and warmth. The great is beautiful crib in the center with artistic statues, in full Bavarian tradition, with the inevitable stable, hay for the ox, the donkey and the gifts of the three Magi.

In the hundreds of stand in the shape of a hut among which you will risk getting lost pleasantly winked by the Christmas lights and shades, decorations of all kinds are sold: a sea of blown glass balls, candles, nutcrackers, stars, angels and so on and so forth.

There is also always, in the background, a song suitable for the period; in short, between smells, tastes and colors a little dizzy. It seems to be a little child again and there is aspecial atmosphere that I have not found in any other market. Every day there is also a event program which includes traditional choirs, but also gospel, music and puppet theaters. For all those who have been at least a little good during the year, or at least for all the little ones, know that - with a little luck - it will also be possible to meet San Nicola who distributes gifts.

What can I say, if you want to savor a little Christmas atmosphere, take a leap. If you were able to summon even half of it, you should already be a plan the trip. It is really worth it.
