Mini-guide of Bellaria: parks and walks in the countryside

A Igea Marina, a few steps from the sea and from Viale Ennio, the shopping and promenade street, you can immerse yourself in the nature of the vast Mulberry Park. Bike path, jogging track, a delightful artificial lake complete with bridges and ducks, a relaxation area where children can play, tennis courts and soccer fields. In short, there is nothing missing to spend a delicious summer afternoon away from the holiday confusion.

Since 2003, on the occasion of the reorganization of the banks of the Uso river, a cycle path of about 6 km has been inaugurated, which goes from Bellaria to San Mauro Pascoli, and to the Torlonia estate. On the old state road, via Ravenna, at the height of the bridge over the river, in front of via dei Saraceni, the path marked by special signs begins. The flora is rich in black and white poplars, willows and maritime pines, without neglecting the abundant reeds found near Igea Marina, which acts as an antechamber to a rural Italian landscape furrowed by canals.

During the walk, dotted with rest areas for refreshment, it is possible to admire the Church of Santa Margherita, founded by the Lord of Rimini Malatesta da Verucchio in honor of his third wife Margherita Paltanieri, between 1213 and 1313. In the thirteenth century it was associated with the so-called Castrum Lusi, the Castle built right on the Uso river, where the Malatesta family resided. It has come down to us almost entirely remodeled, but the eighteenth-century triangular bell tower is of particular interest.

And finally in the distance you can see Villa Torlonia, which marks the border between Bellaria and San Mauro Pascoli, between the province of Rimini and that of Forlì-Cesena. The manor house dates back to the Malatesta era, but was bought by the Torlonia family in the early years of 1828, and until the end of the Great War, the family managed over a thousand hectares in the hinterland of Bellaries, modeled by the work of families of sharecroppers and farm laborers, still in a feudal perspective.

And in the beautiful frame of the villa an excellent restaurant, Locanda dei Fattori, is located in the owner's house, where you can eat divinely in a cordial and friendly atmosphere. Take advice from the owner, and don't forget to try the cold appetizers and desserts, really fantastic.
