Mexico: where to stay in Tulum and what to see

What to see in Tulum, Mexico, where to stay low cost and which tours to choose for a cheap holiday without cheating, read the post on South America.

I was in for the first time Mexico this year in February. I left behind the fog, the cold and the smog of Milan to literally end up in Paradise.

I had always observed him with the necessary distances, even if in reality I do not understand now what was wrong with me. Perhaps it gave me the idea of a too touristy place, built for the delight of American revelry.
Instead, just search! After several searches I identified the Tulum area the one that could do for us.

Jumpsuit In itself, it is an insignificant village built along a highway, overcrowded with souvenir shops and bars where to get drunk (even here those who are inclined to partying are hosted), but its hotel zone overlooking the Caribbean Sea is unparalleled.

Here you will find accommodations for all budgets, a few guest houses, perhaps only a few private houses, it just depends on which stretch of the coastal Carretera you choose. Coming from Tulum Pueblo, at the crossroads that will allow you to choose whether to head towards the Archaeological Area or the Sain-Ka'an Biosphere, we have chosen the first. We stayed in a small cabanas complex right on the beach, casually owned by Italy, in a dream atmosphere, feet always in the sand, total freedom and breakfasts by the sea.

Here, imagine a Caribbean sea, here it will not betray your imagination, and the name of its most famous beach (and at certain times more crowded), leaves no room for doubt: Playa Paraiso.

On the horizon, the Mayan ruins, reachable on foot with a walk in the jungle, the only ones in Mexico built on the sea. The park is well preserved, and even if quite crowded, organized in such a way, to be visited without too much chaos around. The ruins are populated by iguanas and other native animals such as the Tijon, a small rodent that looks like a monkey.

Many rent bikes, there is a cycle path that takes you around all the bars in the area. There nightlife is very active in these parts, closely followed by "spiritual" activities: there are many Hippy communities that manage campsites on the beach (beautiful atmosphere), holistic centers, yoga and massages.

One of the most popular places for aperitifs and moonlit beach parties is the Papaya Playa.

In Mexico they seem to have been built during the Aztec-Maya period almost eleven thousand pyramids and you can't ignore visiting at least the most famous, Chichen Itza, the one on which at each solstice the shadow of the sacred serpent descends the staircase. Now, due to accidents, it is no longer possible to go up, and thank goodness, because given the slope, the descent would have been really difficult.

To visit it we have chosen Merchants Tours, really organized, nice and helpful, a acceptable prices, which after a detailed tour of the site, led us to take a dip in a lesser known Cenote. The atmosphere of the cenote is beautiful, the clean and fresh waters, which after a day in the scorching heat of Chichen Itza are ideal.
