Les Concluses, the south you don't expect from France

Little outside Avignon, city of the Popes, just abandoned the laughing Provence of small villages and endless lavender fields, you can find a place that is nothing short of unusual for the south of France.

Characterized by a particular vitality, both in people and in the natural landscape, a Les Concluses de Lussan it seems that all this has immediately disappeared and that the natural light-heartedness of the lands of Provence and Languedoc has remained crystallized as the river limestone deposits, now dry in fact, which crosses the area.

Never a name was more appropriate, one could say: in Les Concluses it seems that something has its point of arrival there. A grand finale with a unique landscape, marked by the dry river, which can be traveled on foot, but with particular attention to one's path, given that the calcareous sedimentations have created over time a bed with ups and downs, or "climb and jump down" to put it even better!

La vegetation around, the little one that resists the heat and the little water in the surroundings, is dry and low, and the bramble bushes are the masters, which form real woods. Anyway, the place is easily accessible, has a nice parking and for a pleasant one excursion of a few hours in nature the paths are well-trodden and signposted.

Further advice is to make a visit to the medieval town of Lussan, still very well preserved, overlooking the surrounding countryside. Excellent place also for campers to make a night stop in the central square of the church, no one will disturb you!
