    Jurmala, a Latvian seaside town

Jurmala, pretty Latvian citizen, located about 20 km from the capital Riga and less than 10 km from the international airport, extends for a considerable length, up to the end of the Gulf where the intersection between the Baltic Sea and the North Sea create a very dangerous spot with the prohibition of bathing due to strong currents.

The 30 and more km of white beach they are divided into many seaside resorts; among the most important are Ķemeri, Jaunķemeri and Sloka, who have a greater point of respect than the others, especially for the organization and the very accessible prices.

For some years more and more elite summer destination for many tourists (especially Russians) who take advantage of the proximity of the place to enjoy a relaxing and pleasant holiday.

The relaxing days are spent among the characteristics of the wooden villas or in the numerous well-equipped and cheap hotels. The "Baltic Beach Hotel”Very characteristic with its naval shape, sea view and private beach.

Many types of restaurants (Japanese, Armenian excellent for grilled meat, Dutch, Italian) present in the center give the opportunity to have an excellent quality-price (10-20 euros for a complete meal). While for a clientele with a larger budget, the places with the "Restaurant" signs have a higher level, but nowhere near comparable to our trattorias. Most of the restaurants are located in the main street "Jomas Street", which does not directly overlook the sea, but can be reached on foot in two minutes.

The city is populated especially in the summer with numerous local and lounge bars, but in the first days of spring you can admire the extravagances of the VIP tourists from the dress or from the bathing suit, to the strange breeds of animals on a leash or from super sports cars. Not far from the center there is the “Kemeri Nacional Park”, a vast natural park that runs along the Lielupe river, ideal for lovers of long walks in the name of unspoiled nature.

Reaching Jurmala is very simple with direct flight to Riga airport, from which, by train, with only one Lat (local currency) and in 30 minutes you can reach the seaside resort. It is the ideal city for those who want to relax with friends over a period of time from April to September.
