Ischia: the most beautiful beaches in 3 days

If you are planning a short stay in Ischia, you cannot miss some splendid beaches: in the post, all the details to reach them.

I only spent 3 days in Ischia and in hindsight I would stay a week because it has wonderful beaches, but it's not just sea.

In Ischia they can be done excursions on Mount Epomeo and relax in the numerous spas on the island.
However, since my period of stay was rather short, I organized my visits in the best possible way, giving priority to the beautiful beaches, with the fundamental help of the director of the hotel where I stayed. I assure you that by touring the island you will only fall in love with the magical atmosphere that reigns in every corner.

Arrival in Casamicciola

Arrived at the port of Casamicciola with the ferry from Naples, I headed to the bus station to go up to theMagnolia Hotel, chosen thanks to an offer on the web.
The Hotel is located in the municipality of Casamicciola, in a panoramic position. The bus trip was adventurous, I still can't understand how the driver manages to pass through the tiny and uphill streets, which are also occupied by parked cars.

It is worthwhile to inquire immediately on scooter rental service (about 25 euros per day). We booked it at the hotel. Arrived in the afternoon we immediately took the opportunity to take a tour in city center which descends from the hills to the sea.

Casamicciola Terme, as is clear from its name, it is the Ischian municipality among the main thermal structures of the island, with several springs scattered throughout its territory.
City life is concentrated near the coast: on the seafront it rises Marina Square. Entering its narrow streets you will find the historical one Piazza Bagni. On the promenade you will find numerous areas equipped with umbrellas and free beach areas.

Lacco Ameno

A short distance from Casamicciola, on the slopes of Mount Epomeo, stands Lacco Ameno, one of the pearls of Ischia.
Among the naturalistic wonders there is the Mushroom, a particular rock that emerges from the water and whose shape recalls, as the name suggests, that of a mushroom. The rock is made up of a 10-meter block of green tuff.
Several legends were born around the appearance of this rocky block: the most famous tells that it arose as a gift to a young couple of lovers who tried, with tragic results, to escape across the sea.

The beach of Lacco Ameno extends into the Bay of San Montano, an exotic looking bay surrounded by rich vegetation. This stretch of beach finds the most loyal guests among families with children, thanks to the easy accessibility, the shallow waters and the areas that are in a position sheltered from the sun.

In this area, several luxury hotels offer high-level thermal treatments.
The particular beauty of this bay is given by its crescent shape: the beach is surrounded on the right and left by a thick vegetation belonging to the promontories of Zaro e Monte Vico. Precisely for this reason many tourists compare it to a tropical village, different from the other beaches of Ischia.

Forio d'Ischia

On the west side of the island is Forio, the second largest municipality in Ischia.
Famous for the Tower, the museum housed inside a tower and the Soccorso Church.

The coast here alternates between protrusions, recesses and long stretches of beaches. Particular is the Bay of Sorgeto, unique for its pools of hot water that allow you to dive even in the evening and with temperatures that are not yet or no longer summer.

Sorgeto, in the locality of Panza, in the municipality of Forio, is a sort of outdoor thermal park. In the area there are several basins where the water from the springs flows. In addition, the bay, which is a natural inlet sheltered from the wind, allows you to dive at any time.

Sant'Angelo beach

In the south of the island you will find the beach that has remained in my memories as the most beautiful beach on the island. A small fishing village, perched houses overlooking the square, from which a strip of land extends that connects the village to the small rocky island, from where you can climb to admire the view of the island with your back to the sea.

On the sides of the road that connects to the small promontory, you will find both a beach equipped with umbrellas and sunbeds and a strip of free shore where you can lie down and enjoy the view looking at the sea or admiring the houses that rise inwards. In the town there are also numerous thermal springs, as indeed on almost the whole island.

I would like to go back to complete this story, because Ischia holds so many treasures to discover and it is a shame not to share them with the whole world.
