Once you get to Sharm is on vacation here you cannot, in my opinion, take an excursion to Cairo. If you have 7/10 days at least one day you must dedicate it to the Egyptian capital if only to see its pyramids and the sphinx, which are among other things 7 wonders of the ancient world.
To get to Cairo you can take theexcursion they offer you at the hotel as soon as you arrive, or those outside the hotel among the various agencies that offer them. The cost changes, even considerably, but also the "level of security" that you can perceive in the hotel at least. I did theexcursion to Cairo proposed to me by the hotel, just to say.
Besides the price, the rest of the trip is the same. The the time spent on by bus is of around 6 hours, the distance between Cairo and Sharm el Sheikh is 500km, you will cross the Sinai desert passing through the Suez passage.
The trip starts for everyone around one in the morning, stop in the middle of the desert scheduled at 5.30 and arrival in Cairo scheduled for around 7 am. There are few things to know, also because in most cases you will have an Italian guide who will take you to visit the main stops, the Mohammed Ali mosque, Egyptian museum old City, the Nile cruise and of course Sphinx and Pyramids.
