The exhibition takes place from 6 March to 21 July 2013 at the Palazzo delle Esposizioni in Rome Helmut Newton. White Women / Sleepless Nights / Big Nudes.
The exhibition collects two hundred photographs appeared in the first printed volumes published by Helmut Newton. In the volume White Women the images are surprising and provocative enough to revolutionize the very concept of fashion photography.
Sleepless Nights (1979), focuses on the theme of women, their bodies and the clothes they wear, but progressively transforming the images from
Big Nudes (1981) makes Newton reach the leading role in late twentieth century photography. His models are systematically portrayed outside the studio, on the street, often in sensual attitudes, suggesting a use of fashion photography as a pure pretext to create something totally different and very personal.
