Getting around Paris, the new metro fares

Here is a post for you to update you on rates of the means of the Ville Lumiere.

First of all a Paris it is very easy to move with i public transport: 14 subway lines, 5 RER lines and many buses cover the entire city area. The city is divided into 5 zones, the first two include practically all places of cultural and tourist interest.

La metro is open from 5,20 to 1,20 and on weekends it closes an hour later. There RER leaves every morning at 4,45 and remains active until 1,30, 7 days a week. Buses run from Monday to Saturday between 7 and 5,30, many lines continue until 20,30 and many others operate even on holidays. During the night there is the service Noctilien bus, which covers the hours in which other means are interrupted and circulate connecting the 5 largest Parisian stations (Gare de Lyon, Gare Montparnasse, Gare Saint-Lazare, Gare de l'Est) to the most important city places.

Il ticket t + for a single journey costs 1,70€ (€ 1,90 if the ticket is bought on board, but without the possibility of changing the vehicle). Also useful for travelers is the 10-ride booklet which costs € 12,70.

If you are planning a travel up to 5 days you can buy the Paris Visite: a card that allows you to use all public transport (including Orlyval) and offers reductions on some attractions and activities in the city. The price varies according to the number of days and the areas in which you want to move:
    1 day: € 9,75 (zones 1-3); € 20,50 (zones 1-5)
    2 days: € 15,85; € 31,15
    3 days: € 26,60; € 43,65
    5 days: € 31,15; € 53,40

Personally I have used the Navigo Découverte, a electronic card which replaces the old Carte Orange, is rechargeable (and also reusable for future trips). It costs € 5 and at this initial cost the price of the pass must be added, the weekly pass for zones 1-2 is € 19,15 and for those who visit the city I think it is the best (if you use the metro, and not the RER , you can also go to La Défense which would actually be in zone 3), up to a maximum of € 33,90 for the ticket that covers all 5 zones. If you are planning to buy this please bring one with you passport photo 20 × 30. Recharging it is very simple and can also be done at the many automatic machines that are located in each station.

For the minor 26 years who are in Paris on the weekend or during a public holiday you can take advantage of the Jeunes Week-End Ticket: it is a day ticket that can be used on Saturday, Sunday or a public holiday and costs only € 3,55 for zones 1-3, and € 7,10 for zones 1-5.
